  1. What are all your system specs..PSU wattage and what is the GPU you have now?

His psu shouldnt matter, hes using a 9400gt. That should run on any crappy psu.

Also if your cpu doesn't work, then you cant even boot to the bios. You need to get a new cpu first.

It would matter if it does not have PCI-e connections for his new GPU
  4. Hi, thanks for the response.

  5. Sorry mis read..thought his old one was the 9400
  6. SPecs are 4gb ram tricore 2.7ghz 1tb hardrive

i need to know what is to blame before i buy new parts.
  8. many things can cause the symptoms you are displaying. Since you bought a second had GPU, it could be that. It could be the PSU or MB as well. do you have any way to test the GPU in another Machine?
  9. No i do not ive tested differ gt 430 on this mobo with different psu
  10. Did the other PSU and gt 430 work?
  11. Yeah prfectly
  12. can you test the 9400 with the other PSU?
  13. I tried a 300w psu and same result
  14. Since other components worked, that tells me your MB and PSU are fine. And since the CPU you bought was faulty, and you bought the GPU from the same guy, well it looks like the GPU is bad as well.
  15. And i tried with a underpowered 250w
  16. Ok so faulty gpu can make hole system fans to spin max?
  17. Yes, It can do all kinds of things. Since your system works with another GPU (GT 430) and not with the GT 9400, and you tried multiple PSU's, then I would say your GPU is at fault.
  18. Thanks can u suggest a cheap gpu cheap but capeable
  19. what is you budget and from what country? And what PSU will you be using?
  20. Uk and ordering a cheap psu tomorrow 750w on ebay tomorrow, and 100
  21. Don't get a cheap PSU, meaning quality, not price. What is your total budget for a psu and GPU?

The PSU powers your entire system and if it goes, it can take everything with it.
  22. 30 for decent size psu

This will work great for you.
  24. What will that fpu run and what watt is psu
  25. Put in 700w psu in ebay uk its 22 quid take a look for me
  26. that is a very good GPU, best in the price range and it will game at 1080P on medium to high settings in most games.

The PSU is a XFX 450 W. It is very nice.
  27. Don't..I mean do not ever..ever ever ever, buy a used PSU. The PSU name is more important than the wattage. Seasonic, XFX, Corsair, and Antec make very nice, reliable PSU's (and a few others). Here is a list..

and here is a list of GPU's

  28. Never heard of it, and it is not even on the chart so I would say it is crap.
  29. Ok, i need a cheap PSU as on budget as only young no job yet
  30. Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7750 1GB Video Card (£77.41 @ CCL Computers)

Power Supply: XFX ProSeries 450W 80 PLUS Bronze Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply (£33.95 @ Aria PC)

    Total: £111.36

    Is this too much?
  31. No, I am not sure, It may be just fine, it may blow up and take your new GPU with it. But what I do know is, I would not trust it, I do trust XFX PSU's.
  32. Could we not get a say 500-600w PSU thats trusted for under 30?
  33. You are to focused on the wattage... Your system does not require that much, not even close. I am running 2 gtx 660's in sli and only require a 450 watt psu. The name is more important for PSU's. Here is a link where you can calculate how much wattage you will need.

  34. Oh right, can u link me on ebay to a decent PSU under 30 then? as thats where im ordering from,
  35. You have to buy from Ebay?
  36. yes mate.
  37. I don't have time to look on ebay right now. I am also in the US so I am not sure about shipping to the UK. But, If you look at the link with the PSU chart, pretty much any PSU 400 W or above will work with a name of Corsair, Seasonic, Antec, XFX, or silverstone. Look at the different teirs on that chart and get one from at least teir 1, 2, or 3.
  38. thanks for all your help, so any psu by corsair, seasonic, antec or xFX?
  39. Yes, any of those will work
  40. Ok thanks for all your help.
  41. no 2nd hand PSU then?
  42. Well, if you have to get a second hand one to stay in budget, get a quality name one. And make sure the seller is reputable with good feed back and hopefully offers returns. You don't want to get burned again.
  43. i'm 15, so budget isnt great, found a 430w seasonic, Rep'd seller, would this be fine for a GPU like 7750?
  44. Yes, that will work and you get a 30 day return if it breaks
