Hello so my recent psu blew out and im really lucky that it didnt take anything with it :) but i purchased a Graphics card along with a new PSU the both are
Corsair builder series 600cx
7870 2gb xfx

when on world of warcraft i dont see any improvement at all from my old 7750 and aswell as dayz, in fact in some cases Dayz lags even more.
I have got the latest drivers etc and installed it correctly, is there anything i can do ?

i only have a stock cooler and whenever i overclock it using the AMD Overdrive, my windows aero theme dissapears and its really annoying, so is overlocking it the only way? i want to do this as it would help performance in Dayz eitherway.

you should do the overclocking in bios as its safer. cpu bottleneck is the only thing i can think of that would give you same or less performance with the newer faster card. you can overclock the cpu to 3.6ghz on stock cooler but beyond that get a better cooler

im from the UK so i cant order from newegg and secondly i have no money left for more pc parts, i splashed out like 240pounds for the gpu and psu, will i be able to get 3.6 ghz on a stock cooler ?

I saw what you said i was just posting a link for reference if you cant afford the proper equipment to overclock, then you should not be overclocking till you can afford it imo.You could also try overclocking your 7870 http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/radeon_hd_7870_overclock_guide.html

you can under-volt the processor and try over-clocking to say 3.6 GHz .. works fine on my ancient phenom II 940. use core temp to keep an eye on temps. as long as it is less than 62 Celsius on full load it should be fine. but a 20 pound after market cooler will be better than the stock one..

Ok finished a quick Dayz run and ended up dieing while changing settings :( but i can see a good improvment of around 5-12fps i've realised alot of fps lag in dayz is due to servers aswell but at the moment im happy with that, except when i zoom in and it foes to around 26-32fps, my temps for my CPU at 3.6ghz are 40-51 degrees is that safe and stable, and now on idle its on 35-40 plus my motherboard is almost 60, currently at 50-55.
i think i expected too much from this card and thats why im abit upset, i wanted to play my games at constant 60+fps without it dropping.

processor is not the issue. I went from a 7750 to a 7870. I was having artifact until kicking up the fan speed to 85%. I've had issues with the catalyst driver as well (no hdmi audio right now). You might try upgrading to the beta driver and see if things get fixed.

To over clock in the BIOS, when you start your computer go to BIOS (delete or something like that). Go to where your pcu "stuff" are located can be in different places on different mobos. Select the "speed" or something like that (it's been a while since I've overclocked something) and a list should appear and select a higher number and you should see a different Ghz on your processor. Oh and BTW I have the exact same processor as you. Adn exscuse me if I misspell words, I'm from swden :)
