So I wanted help choosing the best graphic card under 20,000 for a gaming build. I'm currently looking forward to get an HD 7870, for around 19,000 INR.
Is there a better choice to make at this price range? [Graphic cards are way more expensive in India]

Here's one of the sites which I use to compare prices,
http://www.flipkart.com/computers/computer-components/g...[]=facets.price_range%255B%255D%3DRs.%2B10001%2B-%2BRs.%2B20000&p[]=facets.memory_size%255B%255D%3D2%2BGB&p[]=sort%3Dprice_desc&sid=6bo%2Cg0i%2C6sn&layout=grid

Also, I wanted to know if big cards like the HD 7870 can fit on a mini-ATX mobo without any issues, or should I just stick with an ATX form factor board?

Thanks :)

The size of the motherboard doesn't matter, it's the size of the case that matters. Have you checked whether your case would have room to install the card?

The best card for you (at that price point) I guess would either the 7870XT>7870 or GTX660. 7870 is a little bit faster than GTX660 in most games though.

Btw, your link doesn't work.

Thank you for your input. The XT edition is not available in India I believe, but i'll double check with the local dealers today. What's the improvement in the XT edition? There are 7878OC editions though, with a minor 50MHz factory OC.

I have no idea about the case, was planning to ask the local store guy to use whatever he thought was appropriate, for around INR 1500 :)
The reason why i was worried is that I might add another 2 sticks of RAM, and an SSD in the future....I don;t want the board to get all crowded up and start heating up and stuff.

Yea, i seem to have difficulty getting the correct link. Just goto flipkart.com, under Computers-> Graphic Cards.
Set the price bracket to 10,000 - 20,000 INR, and Memory size to 2GB [I'm seeing a 1920x1080 monitor] :)

The 7870XT card is somewhere between the 7870 and 7950 but performs too close to the 7950 and GTX660ti. That's why it's a great value card. If you can't find it, get the normal 7870. For me personally, I don't really care much about factory overclocked card, what's important is the GPU. You can always do manual OC later but of course it's your risk to take.

Some of the good cheap cases are Cooler Master Elite series, CM HAF912, Bitfenix Merc, NZXT source. Try to look for them.

Sounds good :)

One more thing. I don;t know if you can answer it, but give it a shot:)
Here in India we buy really cheap PSU's, like for less than $20, the reason being we have to compulsorily spend at least $50 on a good UPS and Stabilizer. If we directly connect the comp to the wall socket, I wouldn't even last 5 minutes cause the power supply is extremely unstable, out of phase and erratic.
So as the PSU will now be getting only completely clean, filtered, stable AC supply, is it fine if I stick to the cheap PSU idea? Will these 150W+ graphic cards be fine with it? I'm planning on atleast a 700W PSU.

Never go cheap on the psu. If you don't have much to spend, the cheapest good psu are Antec VP450 or Corsair CX500
