Can access some sites, but time out on most others

Hello, as you can see from my title, I can access some sites such as Google with no problem, even being able to check Gmail or Google Search, but once I try to access some other site, I just time out. The computer was just built, fresh install of Windows 7 64 Bit, and as far as I am capable of the drivers are up to date. The light on the ethernet port is yellow, but the cable worked just fine on the old computer. The problem persists whether I use Chrome or IE.

have you check your computer for RootKits?

What antivirus software are you running?

This is a new computer, everything is brand new(except the motherboard, which is used)
