Best GPU + CPU combo ?

Hey guys , what's the best GPU and CPU combo for the price of $280 ? I don't want a CPU which will bottleneck the GPU .

I want to play Skyrim , BF3 , GTA 4 etc at high / ultra if possible . My screen res is 1366 x 768 .

  1. What motherboard do you have? If you have an LGA1155 socket board, a good combo would be an i3-3210/3220 + Radeon HD7850
  2. Haven't bought the motherboard yet , still deciding on the CPU + GPU first .
  3. Will a i3 work well with a HD 6870 ?
  4. If you prefer Intel CPU, get the i3-3210/3220 and HD7850. More efficient, uses lower power and great single threaded performance

If you want AMD CPU, get an FX4300 and HD7850. Unlocked multiplier (easy to overclock), great multi-threaded performance.

In case the 7850 is too expensive, the cheaper GTX650ti should be good.

    Yes
  6. If only CPU and GPU, no motherboard, no ram,etc... I'd say an I3-3220 (120$) and a XFX HD7850 (150$ after mail-in rebate) on NCIX.com

    Yes
  9. HD7850>GTX560ti>HD6870

So yes, the 7850 is faster.

the difference between a 6870 and a 7850 is similar to a gtx 560 and a gtx 570, except the 7850 uses less power, gets more gains with the latest drivers, runs cooler, and overclocks better
  11. The HD 7850 is expensive in my country .
  12. at your screen resolution, the 6870 should be enough as is in my opinion.
  13. it's faster but not by much, i suggest that card as it often comes with AMD never settle bundle...

  14. Then get the GTX650ti. It uses less power than a 6870 but performs roughly the same. If that's expensive as well, then I have to agree with dudewitbow, get the HD6870.
  15. GTX 650 Ti is also expensive. Okay guys , I'll just go for the HD 6870 ! Thanks guys ! (:
