IP addresses and routers

Hello,
why does each interface on a router has a different IP, why not the entire router has one only IP i.e. for itsellf.

It only has two addresses, a WAN address and a LAN address. This is to bridge your home network with the internet. The internet communicates with the router on the WAN port, then the information is sent out the LAN port onto your home network/computer.
