Help me choose

I will be building a new computer soon, budget would be 2000-2300 few questions on the topic of GPU
1. GTX 690 vs GTX 680 SLi? I hear good and bad of Sli, the good being more power for less money but on the bad side i hear of games not SLi compatible or more heat because of 2 cards and not one
2. Screw the whole idea and wait till GTX 700 series?

I think it always better to get a bigger single card. If you can stand to wait then I would wait.
