Hi, I'm trying to upgrade my system, and it is an A4-3400 OC to 3Ghz with 8gb of RAM. also it is a gigabyte motherboard with a free PCI-E 2.1 slot, and I'm asking if a HD7770 is a good choice for BF3 or if the CPU would bottleneck the whole system. Thanks in advance!

Not only will the dedicated card be faster but it is also a much newer GPU architecture than your processor(Llano). 7770 is a great entry/mid range card.

Battlefield 3 recommends an Athlon X2 2.7 GHz as a minimum requirement which isn't a far cry from the processor you're running. Just don't expect BF3 to run like a dream.

Here is some BF3 testing i conducted using FRAPS. This was also conducted with a i5 2500k at 4.5ghz, to ensure GPU only results.

OK, the maximum stable OC i achieved on stock voltages is 1230mhz on the core, 1550mhz on the memory with a board power limit of +20.

This result is at the stock clocks
1020mhz core
1300mhz memory
Board power 0%

Test conducted under firestorm 64 man for 10 minutes.

BF3 results using FRAPS:
