I'm really torn between these two cards, I've been doing all the research I can to figure out which is best; but everytime I try to stick with one card I end up switching to the other. I need help:

is the gtx 680 really worth it for an extra £70-80 for heavy gaming? I dont even think i'll use 3d for it. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

I would personally go with the 7970. AMD's latest drivers show very similar performance levels between the 7970 and 680, and you also get an extra GB of VRAM for a lower price. It's really up to you, but price/performance is a definite win for the 7970.

Well I guess with those advantages and the fact that it's around £75 cheaper, the 7970 is the winner. Also thinking about it now I could just overclock it past the gtx 680.

Could you recommend a good 120hz monitor for the 7970 but the budget I got is under £300. Otherwise the overall cost would end up being either exactly the same or even more than the gtx 680.

Those three are pretty good, but they have TN panels, if that isn't a problem.
