is Raid > 127GB possible?

I was wondering if a raid drive using 2 100GB drives running in mode 0 is possible. I remember reading somewhere that windows will only handle drives up to 127GB.

i wouldnt think so.
with either raid 0 or 1
i always forget which is wich

but when ones mirroring the other 100gb is seen, the other being basically a realtime backup, and the other raid your sacrificing half your available capacity for (theoretically) twice the speed.
in either case all u see is 100gb.

in striping you would get 200 gig of hard drive space in mirroring you would get 100

there are already 160 gig drives out so i would be pretty sure that windows supports over 127.

what i think you are thinking of is the fact tath ata 100 can't address more then 137 gig abytes. but that is for one harddrive

You can do that! The limit you are thinking of is 137 GB for the ATA100 standard. You may not be limited by this depending on your hardware, but even if you are you are not reading a drive larger then 137 GB, you are reading 2 that are 100 each. Keep in mind that while the OS is going to see one drive that is 200 GB, the CONTROLLER sees 2 100 GB drives and it then tells the OS that it is 1 200.

Yes each ATA level has its own limit. ATA100 is 137 GB, although there are workarounds. For example you can install a drive bigger then the limit by using "overlay" software. There is a performance hit cuz of this so I dont normall suggest people go that route, but it is available for people who need it.
