Excuse me if I'm sounding dumb , but now that Nvidia has unleashed its kraken, does that mean their other cards are gonna drop in price?

yes they should and you will see a Titan price drop when AMD has their next gen cards out

Is there an immediate drop, or is in a few months time? I'm asking because I was just about to finalize a new build, but I will wait if that means I can save some cash.I do need said pc asap though, so if the wait is too long I'm probably just gonna order it soon.

No. The Titan could drop when other new cards come out, but other existing cards will not change as a result of Titan. Titan lives in its own world. It doesn't really compete with other cards.

Nvidia has made it so, that the Titan don't compete too much with the other GPUs of theirs. GK110 is made for extreme resolutions, while GK104 is made for lesser more normal resolutions.

I don't see price drops in any time soon. :)

agree, not going to compete with anything else. no need to drop prices on other cards.

keep watching your favorite shop for a price cut on what you wanted, and when you see it, pounce.

It is safe to skip this card. IT is not even out yet and it will stay high for some time. AMD is not going to respond to the card as they does not need to. It is a card for form factor and crazy high multi monitor set ups.

Youtube reviews has their hands on it, you can order today or in a day or two depending on where you live. It's out and it's insane.

THG has the card and has done some benchmarks. They are doing more, but hinted that the performance is not double a 7970 or 680, yet the price is more than double those cards. They are currently thinking this card is only good for those who consider 3/4-way SLI/CF. Otherwise the price is not worth the performance.

Moving towards greater screen resolutions the GPU will pull further away from the GTX 680 and the Radeon 7970. It also overclocks like crazy, it's the first GPU by Nvidia in a long time I've seen that can be overvolted without any aftermarket company enabling it.

Also it's an obvious choice for an ITX build, where you want the very best performance.

They are trying to bridge the gap between high end gaming and full cuda/dc acceleration, and in doing so, offering a cheaper solution to a much costlier Tesla/pro solution.

There are some compromises but as has been said, it's a niche product - and offers enough cuda/dc gains not to compete with a 690 (the 690 is also faster at gaming), hence, they'll both live together. For the moment. An interesting card.
