Wireless Bridge/Externder/Whatever?

I am using the cheap-o creep-o wireless that came with my Verizon internet. It is upstairs in the bedroom farthest back. Now of course I am using my laptop downstairs in the dining room which is as far away from the cable modem's omnidirectional antenna (not to mention the walls). So of course my internet is dodgy down here.

So my question is this: what do I need to extend or strengthen the signal or whatnot?

I apologize for asking this when I'm sure someone else has posted this as well. I looked but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

Thanks! =)

  1. what cheap-o creep-o wireless router is it?

you could use a router that supports DD-WRT firmware and configure it in Bridge Repeater mode.

or get an extender like the Netgear WN2000RPT
