HDMI to DVI adapter

If my computer has an HDMI port and I have a DVI-D single link cable from my monitor, can I connect with a DVI-D dual link 24+1 female to HDMI male adapter such as http://www.ebay.com/itm/DVI-female-to-HDMI-male-adapter-DVI-D-dual-link-24-1-/180582520887?pt=US_Video_Cables_Adapters&hash=item2a0b8e9837

It seems obvious to me this should work, but I thought I should check anyway.

yes it will work, there's nothing with double checking
  2. If you wanted to avoid the adapter all together just get an HDMI to DVI cable.
  3. Fair point. I have an DVI to DVI cable, so an adapter seems simpler. It probably doesn't matter. There's likely no meaningful difference between adapter or new cable in quality or price.
