When i log in to my domain server it does not ask for a username and password

can anybody help me my previous pc running on win 7 when i type \\server it prompts me for a username and a password and now i bought a laptop same OS win 7 when i type \\server it does ask for a username and a password but it view all the folders on the \\server the problem is i can't open it.

Check the shared folder properties under Sharing/Advanced Sharing. There is a list of users that are granted access to the shared folder. If your new PCs name isn't in that list you should add it.
