I bought one of these cards a couple of months ago to use with my JVC mini dv camcorder. I originally installed it under Win98SE, but although it was shown on system properties as working correctly, my camcorder would never be recognised by any software. I have now changed to WinXP Pro, but the problem persists.

I have read of bad problems with firewire cards of this type under Win98SE and various workarounds involving installing Texas Instruments drivers etc (which never worked anyway), but not XP Pro, so I would think that it's a safe bet that either the card, cable or camera is at fault here.

But how do I check as I don't know anyone else with firewire?

Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me back in!
