I'm having serious 56k modem problems here...

I just built a new custom PC with Windows XP Pro. However, none of the modems I used seems to be "stable". I've bought a Motorola modem, a Zoom modem, and a USR modem (which I currently have right now.)

All the modems seem to "hiccup" when connected. (Pause every 2 seconds, and then get back to normal again.) When you do something like surf the web, and look at websites, you don't notice this. However, when you try to play games like Quake 3, it becomes very obvious. You can even play anymore.

Does anyone know of a solution to this problem? Thanks in advance.

The best PCI PNP modem I've ever used is the Lucent 1646T00 chipset modem (various manufacturers). Lucent chips are now sold as "Agere"

What's the frequency, Kenneth?
