Hello all I am trying to see if this GPU will fit into my MOBO

GPU
http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-HD6770-PCI-Express-HD677XZNLC/dp/B004Z5GRVW/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361502514&sr=1-2&keywords=6770

Mobo

My prev GPU
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-nVidia-GeForce-PCI-Express-N9800GT-MD512/dp/B002MAPS26/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1361503385&sr=1-3&keywords=msi+9800+gt

You see i am 100% sure that itll fit into the slot considering that it is a PCI x16. The issue is, as u can see on my MOBO,on the right of the Blue GPU slot is a Gold/Copper MSI logo that is sticking out. I am not sure if that will interfere with the HD6770's fan fitting, since it is a bigger graphics card (I think...). What do you guys think?

Solution

It will fit, I have one on my socket 775 motherboard, you just might have to move the attachted fan around, or move both of the RAM modules to the right one space.

It wont hit the gpu, because it doesnt pertrude any farther out than a PCIe slot does, so it wont hit anything. You're good to go buddy.

By the way, you're using socket 775? If you dont have a core 2 quad, Ebay has q6600's for 40$

Thanks for the prompt response sir. And yea im still using a 775 >< and thats exactly what i did, bought an q6600 off ebay for 50$ :). I have another question. So im thinking of buying a new Cooler/heatsink for my q6600 and was wondering if this would fit in my MOBO as well. Would i have to measure to figure out if it will fit?
