PC2700, do I need it? How about CL 2.0?

OK, I've decided I'm going with a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP and a 1.6GHZ Athlon XP. I've got the whole system spec'd out except for the RAM.

This article:

http://www6.tomshardware.com/mainboard/02q1/020220/kt333-08.html

seems to be saying that DDR333 ram would actually be slower than DDR266, unless it has a CAS latency of 2.0. It also says that Corsair is the only company that makes DDR333 RAM with CL 2.

I also read in a post here that DDR333 only makes sense for OCed systems.

So if I'm not planning to overclock this box, what type of RAM would make the most sense. Should I go with DDR333 with CL 2.5? Should I just get the less expensive DDR266 with CL 2.0? Or should I go all out and spring for the Corsair DDR333 with CL 2.0?

I have another question too, when I was looking into the prices for the Corsair PC2700 DDR333 with CL 2.0, I noticed that they make two different versions in the 256MB size, but I couldn't tell the difference between the two. Here's a link:

Which is faster?

CM64SD256-2700CX2H
333 MHz
256MB
32Mx64
184 DIMM
CAS2
DDR
16Mx8
CM64SD256

or

CMX256A-2700C2
333 MHz
256MB
32Mx64
184 DIMM
CAS2
DDR
32Mx8
CMX256A-2700C2

Thanks, -Steve

You don't need it, trust me. If you want bragging rights, then ok, but I'm using "old" PC-133 and it works just fine. I don't think PC2700 is worth the price premium.

I don't think any PC2700 CL2 memory will actually run at 2 2 2 1T! It could be the memory or the chipset who knows?HardOCP had to drop the frequency to 147 mhz (294 DDR) to get PC2700 to run at 2 2 2 1T. They suggested buying PC2400 cl2 instead.
