Given the company's guidance and its current cost structure, "our TIVO
earnings model achieves an uninspiring straddle, with neither rapid
growth nor meaningful profitability," Rowen said, downgrading the
stock to a neutral rating from a buy.

Ramsey is some CEO all right. I can picture the meetings going like
this:

One group is in the "Let's start making a profit camp" and argues
vigorously to do everything possible to make as much profit as they
can.

The other group insists that "subscriber growth" is the key and argues
that they should do all they can to grow the subscriber base even if
it delays by months/years going profitable.

What does Ramsey do?

Neither.

When it's all said and done. Tivo's short existence will be used in
business schools everywhere as an example of how to run a good
product/company into the ground.
