windows comes in two flavors
32 bit or 64 bit
most common is the 32 bit, 64 bit is used in systems that use 4gigs or ram or more.
if you are running a 64 bit operating system it will open 32bit applications automatically.
having problems with an application?
right click on the icon and select "properties"
click on the "compatiblity" tab
check the checkbox for "compatiblity mode"
click the drop down and select the appropriate mode
i dont belive there is a 32 bit mode but try "windows xp service pack 3" or 2
True, but this is windows we are talking about. In this case the 32 and 64bit code is the same more or less. The 64bit windows should have zero issues running 32bit code.
I'm not sure what he is trying to do which is why I asked for more info.
If you are having problems running a program's installer, it may be a 16 bit installer, in which case it won't work. Windows 64 bit can only run 32 bit and 64 bit programs, not older 16 bit programs.
There is no 32 bit mode.
It is totally impossible.
The way the program is codded is totally different for 32 bit and 64 bit.
The problem is that there seem to be 64bit programs that run smoothly on win7 32, but have some issues on win 7 64. compiler issues as compilers are not set correctly by default.
weird i agree, but i really have a 64bit version of a program that runs 'smoothly' on the 32bit version of windows 7 and has real under water problems so to speak on the 64bit version of windows. unfort. can't pick the windows version i have installed.
