No network adapter?

Just brought the wifes emachine back to its original state by using the win XP home disc and lo, after rebooting its doesnt show a network adapter or have sound. I'm figuring this is a driver issue for both network adapter and sound?

Correct.

If you used the restore disks, it should have a drivers section either on the same disk as the operating system or on another disk. Or you can get it from the support website.
