Laptop Keeps Freezing

I have an Acer Aspire 5732Z that, just lately, started freezing randomly. I've cleaned the registry, there are no viruses, and other than the freezinjg, it's in good shape. When it freezes it either takes a few seconds to get back to normal, shows the blue screen and restarts my computer, or recovers and says "Display Driver stopped responding but has recovered." It's battery has been shot for a while (I am in the process of buying a new one), could that have anything to do with it? If not, any other suggestions?

  1. Doesn't sound battery related to me, more likely it's your GPU. If you're overclocking it, return it to stock settings. Otherwise, you might need to look into boosting its voltage a bit to get it stable again.
  2. How do I do that?
