I am going to buy one of these writers but I am kinda torn on which one to buy. Either the Yamaha CD-RW 24x10x40 or the Plextor PX-W4012 40x12x40 is what I am considering. If anyone out there has any experience with these drives please give me your feedback. Suggestions welcomed.

Thanks
JP

Both are very good, but I understand the Yamaha is noisy but the software is good, the plextor is highly recomended.

If you want information on both these CDRW's go to storagereview where they have bench tested both of these against each other.

As Scotty said, both are good burners. I'd personally prefer a Plextor. I don't know about their current drives, but Yamaha's CDRWs used to run quite warm.

I have the Yamaha 3200e. It is quieter, faster and cooler than the 2100e that I replaced.
I haven't tried the Plextor but see good reviews on it also.

Hiya OldBear, does that Yam 3200e have the IDE and SCSI adapter for it?

I must have been thinking of the 3200S. Whats the Mt.Rainer software like? Just wondering how it stacks up to Nero 5.5.7.8

Haven't done that much with it yet. The audio CD's are better quality but take up more
space on the CD.
