Very Slow Gaming

So my laptop is not really that old (like 4 years or so) and it was top of the range when i bought it. It runs off Intel centrino dual core, windows vista, nvidia geforce 9600m gt 1gb graphics card and has 4gb of ram. However i find games like SWTOR or games run on disks such as elder scrolls very slow, klunky and stuttery to play.(I have my graphics setting on minimum when i play to increase fps) Is there anyway to speed up my laptop for gaming, or is it just outdated? If more system details are needed just comment.

Its outdated. Gaming laptops are an oxymoron of sorts. But thats been discussed here 10 ways to Sunday. Upgrade.
