When i connect to my router the internet disconnects from my wireless

Hello,
I has a USB modem in my laptop and and this is what I use to connect to the internet. I use a wireless router for my network. When I am connected to the internet with by USB modem and I then connect to the network via the internet connection drops. If I then disconnect form the netowrk the internet connection works again. Any Ideas?
