Is something bottle necking my GPU?

I recently bough an EVGA geforce gtx 680.
From what was advertised it was one of the most mindblowing GPU's on the market, delivering very high fps in gameplay and benchmarks. However it hasn't lived up to expectations by any means, eg. the highest FPS i received on Just Cause 2 was about 59 - 60, and it went below this.
Crysis runs anywhere from about 30 - 50, and Crysis 2 about the same.
My first thought was install latest drivers - didn't work
I am soon going to try re installing windows to see if there is any software problems present.
Obviously by the title i have thought about bottle necking.
I have:
8gb DDR3 1600MHz RAM (Dual Channel)
Core i5 2500k running at 3.3 GHz (not overclocked)
Corsair Enthusiast TX 850W power supply

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks :)

keep in mind when you read benchmarks they use top of the line extreme series processors so your not overclocked cpu is giving you a bottleneck. get a better cpu cooler and overclock this puppy to 4.4-4.8ghz and you will notice difference

Resolution can effect framerate massively, what are you at?

Thanks, could you recommend a suitable CPU cooler?

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for $30 you can't beat it

your card is performing perfectly normally. You won't be able to max those games out at 1080p with one 680.

Agreed :)  My i5 3570k is @4.5ghz on Hyper 212; it makes all the difference in the world!

Also alot of time they disable Audio to get a pure GPU score and don't have other applications running in the back ground that are not required for the testing.
