My wi-fi stopped working untill buddie reset router

My wi-fi was working great for 2 weeks and then stopped for 4 days so i went to my friends that i am getting the signal from and asked him to unplug the power to his router and he did and i went home and checked and its working why would this be? He has a D-Link 615 router

Many possible reasons. It happens, and will probably happen again. It would help to know whether it was just you with the connection problem or that he had it too and did nothing about it, and many more details about the network. There is no quick 'for sure' answer in this case with the limited information, but at least you know one of your first troubleshooting steps next time it happens.
