Hello, I bought a new Alfa 1000mw adapter for the good range, and I've picked up several new signals...but the problem is the speed of my connection..It can be fine one moment at 4.5mbps and then drop down to .16 mbps in a matter of minutes. Usually once it drops it doesnt go back up until I reinstall the drivers..I have Win7 ultimate 64bit..if anyone can help I'd appreciate it alot! thanks!

Thats a 802.11B/G adapter you have there. Bepending on the router you are using, a 802.11N adapter would have been a better choise. Wireless N adapters have better range (almost double) and speed (almost 4x) than the older G models (even without the high gain antenna).

What kind of router are you using?

I know N > G. Thats not what I'm here for. Using my card on my network goes really slow..about 1 mbps usually..my moms on the same network goes around 3-4 mbps on average..and her card is an older g card. I'm just looking for a way to get my awus036h card up to speed.
