Asus 660ti DCU2 SLI, 680 DCU2 TOP or 7970 Matrix

Hello,

I am ready to update my old ring. The only thing that bothers me is witch gpu to choose.

I would like from your personal experience to give me help with my final decision. My budget is around 500EUR or 650USD.

As far as I can see 660ti sli beats the other two cards in benchmarks, but what about SLI problems (microshuttering, etc)? My monitor resolution is 1920x1080 and I am intrested in playing games mostly, in full graphic detail.

Thanx in advance.

  1. I have the 2 of the 680's and I'm impressed with how smooth gameplay is. This is coming from a Radeon guy.

1300MHz easy! But the 680 Lightnings or 7970 Matrix would be great as well. Just note that the Asus cards are triple slot, huge thus take up a lot of space.

  2. I see. So you are telling me that SLI didn't gave you any problems. But what about a single 680 benches? I believe that it will be different with 660ti sli.

    How so?
  4. I believe that there are different frame latency times, since they have different frequencies and memory bus. This is from what I've read in different forums. I don't know a lot of things about SLI since I've never had one in my system.

Another question is about the drivers for games. If a game comes out do the two cards work or I will have to wait until a SLI profile to be released, so the second card will work?

In case of 2x680 if one card doesn't work isn't much of a deal, since the one by itself is a beast.
  5. For the most part AAA titles support SLi/Xfire from the moment they release, there will always be exceptions of course which is why it's worth taking note of who the game is sponsored by. TWIMTBP is Nvidia so SLi will most likely be supported straight away, Xfire might not be and GITG is ATi/AMD so Xfire is likely to work and SLi might not.
  6. So you are suggesting me to go to the SLI way, since I won't deal with problems for the majority of games.

I've not had a problem with SLi and I'm on my third rig now which has 660Ti's but at the end of the day its really up to you.
