2x 6850's in xfire - dual monitors dont work, used to

I have two 6850's in xfire, two idential 22" lcd monitors. this configuration used to work perfectly until i moved last november. well youll say "hardware was damaged and now your other monitor wont work". I would agree with that, except when I "reinstall" the driver, both monitors work fine! very frustrating situation. device manager won't detect second monitor. I've tried plugging in the second monitor into the three remaining ports on the tower, no dice. I'm stuck. I need help.
