Random PC crashes when playing games

Hello,
I have recently noticed that when I play games, after around 10 minutes my PC shuts down and restarts. What may be causing this problem?

do you get a BSOD? what error code? What is your videocard temp? what are your specs? what motherboard/videocard/PSU?

Driver errors, heat, lack of power, an unstable overclock...

By the way, just being pedantic, but your wording implies that there was a period where the computer would shut down 10 minutes into gaming... and you wouldn't notice.

My specs are:
Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
Intel Core i5 2400 @ 3.10 GHz
8 GB RAM
Gigabyte Motherboard Z68AP-D3 (Socket 1155)
NVidia GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB

There is no BSOD or error codes, the screen just randomly goes black for a few seconds and my PC restarts
What I have just noticed is that my GPU's temperature is 86 degrees Celsius when idle, which is what may cause the issue
