I currently have an HD 6790 that is 1-2 years old. I want to know if it's worth it to upgrade to a GTX 670.

Few of the issues: I paid $150 for my 6790 about 1-2 years ago. The 670 will be costing me $400.

I am stress testing a few new games and not extremely happy with my current card. Resident evil 6 PC stress test gives me an average score of "B" on their system with the lowest FPS averaging 18.

I also can not run the new Tomb Raider game on Ultimate settings as my game becomes choppy. On Ultra settings (one step lower) it looks pretty smooth throughout but you can obviously tell it can be smoother.

Has anyone upgraded from similar cards? Will there be a huge difference from this upgrade? Is it worth $400?

Any opinions or advice from anyone would be great!

As of right now the 6790 is not the best but, I would recommend dealing with the choppy performance now and wait for the next generation GPU's. Then you can consider upgrading. The 670 will give you a decent performance boost but I would not pay the $400 for it.

An upgrade is worth it if you can afford it. I would compare prices to the prices of 7950 / 7970 in your locale though as those cards may be cheaper and they are competitive with the gtx 670
