Problems with grapics card.

Hello, so I recently bought an Nvidia GTX 650 Ti and a Thermaltake SMART 730w power supply for my HP p7 1414. I installed my power supply along with my GPU, but when I booted my computer up for the first time after installing these products, it made a weird beeping sound and shut off. I tried restarting it and everything was fine, except my Graphics card wasn't working as my monitor was not recognizing that it was hooked up to anything. However, I could tell that the card was working and taking power because the fan was going. I thought that this was a problem with the card and the on board graphics, but now I'm not so sure. I also have windows 8, any ideas?

make sure all the connections are in. CPU power (4 OR 8 pin), GPU power (6 or 6+2 pin connector), 24pin motherbd connector, cpu fan.

Yup, all of my connections are in. I've been going at this for a while now, and I've made little progress.

Thermaltake isn't a good brand - it could very well be a bad PSU that's not supplying anywhere close to the power required.

Try booting JUST the motherboard with CPU and RAM. (or try plugging those into the old PSU.)

I'd 2nd that...a non recognized or budget brand of psu will state a much higher max wattage than they are actually capable of...this could be the cause?!
