Hi all.
Im helping a mate with a new build. And already found all the items for it, but on the graphics side im a bit in doubt. I been reading ALOT of reviews, and with the money he has, i've reduced it to these two cards.

MSI GeForce GTX 660 Twin Frozr 2 GB
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/M...win_Frozr_III/

Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 XT W/ Boost (Tahiti LE) 2GB GDDR5
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/515...iew/index.html

They both cost about the same in my country, and the HD 7950 cost to much.

So my Questions are;

In the reviews it looks like the 7870 wins on performs, but what if he dosent overclock, will the 7870 still be the best card?

I heard that ATI drivers suck, is that true, or is the drivers for the HD 7*** okay now?

I dont know how to say this... but some ppl are saying that 7870 has more fps, but that gtx are more stable, framerate? is that true?

What card would u get, and why?

Hope u guys will help Thx you.

1. The 7870 xt will perform better than a 660 at stock clocks, without overclocking.

2. AMD bought ati a while back, and drivers are no longer an issue.

3. I don't have issues with framerate fluctuation, and I have a 7870.

4. I would get the 7870 xt because it will perform better than the 660. The 7870 xt has a crippled tahiti le gpu, which is what the 79** cards have. It is somewhere in between the performance of a 7870 and a 7950. The standard 7870 is already better than the 660, so the 7870 xt is the obvious choice here.

I was just trying to make this decision myself but I would go with the 7870 XT. If it were a normal 7870 vs a 660 it might be a little harder of a decision but the XT/LE tahiti pretty much makes it a 7930.
Nvidia cards have usually been more stable then ATI but they have updated the drivers and they are performing a lot better.
The only thing that was pushing me towards the 660 was PhysX...

I wouldn't go off bumping threads the mods will close your thread by doing so.

Is there a noticeable difference well they both will perform very very well however the 7870 LK can go through a bit more the 660 where you would have to turn down settings in games where the 7870 would experience that a bit less. And on a even playing field with the same settings there would be a noticeable difference.
