Hi guys,

New to the forums, but I've used TH a few times in the past and I've always found the answer I need!

I own a Nvidia Geforce 550 TI and its been a great card for me, often carrying the rest of my computer.

I've just bought a better rig (I7 2.9ghz, 12GB DDR3, Tai chi case with liquid cooling) as I want to start getting into some higher end gaming and the new rig came with a Geforce 295 graphics card so my question is, which would be better?

Normally with GPU's the newer the better, but the 295 has shown it's more than capable in certain aspects!

The 550TI has a gig of GDDR5, the 295 only has GDDR3 but nearly 2 gig. And the 550TI has only 98Ggig memory bandwith per second, the 295 has 223!!

I don't know the best way to compare a graphics card, so I was purely hoping for some help? :)

Which would you guys use?

Thanks people! :)

That was the point I was trying to get across :)

So you would stick with the 295? Or rely on the technological advancements of the 550TI?

Thanks for your input!

Another issue is that the 295 is a DirectX 10 card, which means you will not be able to run any future games that require DX11. In fact, there already is one that the 295 cant play, Crysis 3. Crysis 3 will not even OPEN if your GPU is not DX11 capable.

That's a really important piece of Info! Thanks DiaSin! :)

Still tied between the two, might end up just getting another 550TI and sticking it in SLI to cancel it out a little :)

Until you can afford a single higher-end card that is probably your best bet.
