Graphics Card Compatibility

Hey was just wondering if i could get some advice regarding a GPU upgrade.
My current system is as follows:

2.6GHz AMD Phenom 9950

8 gig ram ddr2
a good 750 watt power supply

I was wondering what GPUs will be compatible with my system? I see many being PCIe 3.0, and was wondering what will work and what wont.

Your mobo will support any gpu as pci exp are backward compaitable.hd 7950 would be big bottleneck to your cpu.it is better to upgrade cpu

Ah ok so what your saying is that the performance of my current CPU is not enough to keep up with a GPU such as this, limiting the overall performance?

Any advice on new CPUs and matching them to GPUs?

Best would to get phenom x4 965 cpu + cpu cooler and overclock to 3.8ghz + gtx 660 or hd 7870
