What happens when pcie slot does not work properly

Hello,
i dont know whether it ismy gpu or mobo problem
i have a sapphire amd 7850 gpu n when i use it i shows multicoloured lines on monitor n when windows logo appear my pc goes off .but when i remove the gpu n connect to onboard graphics it works fine

It could be either. Can you test the GPU in another computer?

Any other graphics card worked earlier ?,whats ur PSU model?
