Hi. Im building my first gaming rig and i would like to have some help with deciding on the graphic card. I have saved up enough money for the Amd radeon hd 7970 but i heard the nvidia gtx 670 is a great card too. So i was just wondering whether i should get the hd 7970 which i saw on reviews that it is a much powerful care than the gtx 670 or should i get the 670. The games i play are mostly dota 2 , diablo 3 and cod.

Edit: im planning to run dual monitors with full hd can either 1 of these 2 cards support them ? Thanks !! My system is

I5-3570k
ASUS Sabertooth z77
Corsair vengeance ddr3 1600mhz 8gb twins
western digital caviar black 1tb 7200rpm sata3 3.5hdd
intel 520 ssd 120gb
550w PSU

Solution
Nvidias drivers aren't really any better, and AMD is pushing out a ton of gaming evolved titles while nvidia drivers are behind on them. See tomb raider. The 7970 is faster, has better direct compute, comes with crysis 3 and bioshock infinity free, more memory, more memory bandwidth. Both are probably overkill for your games but the 7970 is the better choice

And also i recommend you get a different PSU because 550w is cutting it a bit too close

EDIT: Actually it depends which PSU brand you have chosen a Corsair or Seasonic one will be fine

550W are enough to power up a GTX 670 or a HD7970 ,,,
You must have the 12V at 36A

My friend has a GTX 680 running in a 500W PSU 12V --> 36A without problems.

Well you tell him to upgrade his PSU because on the NVIDIA website it says MINIMUM 550W so he could be damaging his computer parts

He has it for about 6 months.
Come on
NVIDIA calculate the power of graphic card + 4HDD ,2 SSD ,120W CPU,70-80W MOBO,

The video card consumes at max about 200W/12=17A
CPU i5-3570k 80W/12=7A
MOBO 80W/12=7A
Other hardwares (HDD ,SSD) use max 10W each ,so 3A +
34A at max 400W

good enough

other hardwares like RAM and Fans and DVD use 3.3 and 5V rail at about 20W

Yeh thats what i thought the 13.2 beta drivers smashed the 670 drivers in Crysis 3 the 670 performs no better than a 660ti in Crysis 3 heres proof:

Nope their drivers are far from stable, Tomb raider crashing, Crysis 3 extreme fps dips, BF3 Crashing again on their WQHL etc. AMD is on top right now with excellent drivers and price/performance products.
