New here and need some Help?

Okay so i just built a pc a few weeks ago for gaming and when i go to play certain games like BF3 or Tomb Raider it lags and i dont know why

Specs:
MOBO: F2A85-VPRO
Power Supply: Corsair CX600M 600W
RAM: G.Skill Ares 8GB 1866 DDR3
PROCESSOR: AMD APU A10-5800k 3.8GHz
GRAPHICS CARD: XFX Radeon HD 7870 DD
HDD: 500GB WD 7200RPM and a 1TB Seagate 7200RPM

System Requirements lab says i can run both games at recommended settings but they lag why?

and i dont know if this is the right thread sorry if it is im new to this stuff

what res. are you playing at?

Are you trying to play them at max settings? You do not have a system capable of max settings on those games.

i play BF3 on what it tells me i should play it on and it still lags

What does it tell you to play at? Auto-detect is not always perfect. It just a guess by the software, and some people have far higher standards for FPS requirements than others.

Oh, and are you trying to play in multi-player with the recommended settings? Multi-player requires a lot more CPU power than single-player.

texture quality set to ultra and everything else on normal

Now tell us your FPS and resolution and if you are playing single or muti-player.

my fps is weird its like 60-80FPS at certain times and drops to 35-44 at other times my resolution is 1280x1024 75.00HZ

That is normal for bf3 and your card,I think. Your fps will drop at times...30-40 fps shouldn't really cause much lag....

im new to the pc gaming community i came from consoles so im used to steady fps so i wasnt sure if it was my computer or its just me

BF3 is hard on gpu... I think you are doing ok from the info I can find with your gpu.

Is there a noticable lag in gameplay, or is it just that you are watching the framerates and noticing the ups and downs?

Actually it's the cpu.

It's stock - no overclock - plus its bottom of the barrel in terms of actual performance.

BF3 online is eating it for breakfast.


You need to turn off/set to low anything that requires extra cpu power.
