Firewire drives and RAID 0

Do firewire drives have faster throughput than IDE drives (aren't they just IDE drives with firewire connections)? If so, would there be any speed advantage using a firewire HDD vs. 2 IDE drives in a RAID 0 config? Is it possible to connect two firewire drives in a RAID 0 config inside an ATX tower? If so, is there any speed advantage to this over typical RAID 0 using IDE drives? Last question: are there firewire kits that allow you to connect IDE drives internally to a firewire card? Thanks.

Firewire is slower than IDE, I think it's 50MBps as opposed to 66/100/133Mbps, so forget it.
