If you are not using wireless modem, you need to buy another basic wireless router ( not wireless modem) so that you want to avoid cables to connect to the desktop.
The Modem output (internet) can be connected to this wireless router input.

If your Desktop doesnt have wireless Adaptors, you need to buy one wireless USB Adaptor as well.

For Wireless Router there are many options like

For USB adaptor you can go for this cheaper one as well

Let me know if you require any more help

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

Guessing that you don't want a cable to run from the router to your bedroom, why no consider powerlin networking. You cable from the router to a unit which plugs into your electric mains circuit. Plug another unit in the bedroom and cable that to the computer. Two standard Cat 5 cables and the powerline units are all you need.
