win 2k to win98 networking problem

i have 2 computers on a lan using a crossover cable both computers can see each other and the win98 computer can access the win 2k computer but when i try to access the win 98 computer is says xx is not accessible you do not have permission to access this server contact your administrator.
when i first set up the lan it was working fine

I've always had problems authenticating from NT to 98. I can usually go the other way. As long as I get one direction working I'm usually happy.
