Access point access

I set up a home network (two windows 7, one Vista, one xp). I have a little netgear FS108 switch with Ethernet cables to three systems.

I added a Wireless Router (Netgear WNR 834B v.2) as an access point. Everything works swimmingly.

However, I cannot log into the wireless router from my computer.

This does not seem to be usual. Is there something internally that needs to be set up on the wireless router?

I can log on by hooking my laptop directly to the access point. Just not from my desktop, by IP. All our systems are 192.168.0.xxx. Although the Access point is 192.168.1.1

The DHCP is turned off on the Access point router. My DSL modem is the only DHCP 'server'

I have a netgear switch for all the wired systems.

I changed the access point to 192.168.0.254 That allowed me to ping and log into the access point. So that's a victory.

Now I have to figure out why my wireless HP printer cannot see the internet. I'll check HP for that one.
