Two-month old T/E. Last evening, a mostly charged battery -- probably
2/3 or 3/4 full (indicated). Picked it up for a quick calculator job,
*this* evening, and it was deader than disco. Palm itself set for 2-min
off. I have BackupMan doing a full autobackup at 4AM. No problem there
-- I got a bit of juice into it, and did a restore. A-OK.
BUT...when I was trying to figure out what was up, tonight, I noticed
that the turn-off-after-backup box was UNchecked in BackupMan config.
Now, that could just be what it defaulted to after the battery died,
*or* yes, I may have had it set that way, /thinking that it really
didn't matter because the PDA prefs were set for the 2-minute shutdown/.
So I'm wondering if this scenario is likely (rather than hardware
issues): the backup happened (not much installed in terms of apps or
data, so it only takes a few seconds) but the Palm stayed on *despite*
its own 2-minute shutdown preference, until the battery was drained.
And if so, does this imply that that power-off setting is only relevant
for /user-initiated/ sessions, in general?
