^ While that may be true, I think it is more the exception than the norm.
All my replacement batteries for laptops (an OLD compaq, 2 toshibias) have been "OEM" supplied batteries. Acer, dell, HP ect - don't believe any of them manuf batteries they just contract out to an OEM that then slaps an appropriate label on the Battery. They may specify in the contract some specifications as to quality, but generally go with loest bider.
 
Really a good question, and would be hard pressed to give the "correct answer to.
Know what you are saying about China "quality" the two words just don't seam to go together. My Son has made a number of trips to china requarding quality of an electrons box they are having buit there - May be he has found some "friends" there!!

As to Acer they are NOT know for using "Quality" parts and in their computer system, who knows they may well be made in China. One of the reasons I have NEVER bought an acer laptop.

There are probably only a half a dozen companies making the Li-ion Cells (most in china or Korea) which also may be shipped to a third party for assembling into the battery pacs.
