Is there software that will differentiate, sum Left and Right only and
perform other functions and output the results to both the channels? I have
a switch box that does this, but I wanted to do this with software. Thanks,
John

Certainly Audition will do all of these things with a tiny part of its
massive functionality.

You can write a Matlab script to do this in about 5 minutes. A bit like
using a sledgehammer to press in a thumbtack, though.

Frankly, so is Audition.

I think that the Audacity freeware would do it for the *right price*. ;-)

Base Matlab, without any toolboxes, is $2000-3000. Adobe Audition is $150.
