Download Sisoft Sandra (latest version you can get) and do a drive benchmark.

HD Tach is also good, but you need comparisons.

I like HDTach also. Who needs comparisons when you have raw statistics, IMO.

I can't stand SiSoft Sandra's "comparisons" that don't seem to match up.
