At the crucial.com memory selector, it offers pc2700 as a upgrade for the 8kha+. But the Epox tech says it is only compatible with pc2100. Im confused.

That would mean it runs at default mobo speeds of PC2100, which is what all DDR 266 mobos do. You have to manually set the new speed by the BIOS, so from then on it's your own responsability.

Well it's no biggie. First of all if you do insert the PC2700 chips in it, nothing bad will happen, it will boot at PC2100 speeds and will indicate it on the POST screen, I know because I have the mobo.
You can try by yourself, to set higher speeds by testing them first. So set at PC2400 speeds (150MHZ*2), and see if all is stable. Then go for PC2700(166*2), and it should be fine! If it cannot go at PC2700 CAS2, then go for PC2400 at CAS2 which works, that way you compensate the PC2700 speeds by using better CAS latency at a lower speed. I doubt there is any risk possible of happening when you're trying to put the clock speed of something designed to run at it, now would there??

Maybe I should stick with some good old Crucial PC 2100.
