Okay...so now i have a GTXP 6.1 and i'm gonna be using headphones alot. I been reading about alot of different ones on sites but i just cant figure for sure what would work right on my system for what i want. Some time back i bought the Sony MDR-V700DJ headphones thinking that sounded cool but i regret it...for one thing they're uncomfortable for long periods of time.

So, here's the question. For a good mix of gaming and music (80's, soundtracks, vocal, a little new age) what would be the best headphones that i can just plug into the GTXP without any other expensive equipment? Top price would be around 400 bucks...less preferably though as i'm still kicking myself over the Sony's 6 months after i bought them. I really kinda care equally about the gaming and music sound qualities.

do here it was very help full when i was looking at headphoens

i have the hd 500 and they sound good and are comfortable

what is better then a 7000 rpm, a 8000 rpm delta. to cause more noise to kill your ears :smile:

I've read all i can find on that site but most of it really doesn't mean anything to me...heh. I enjoy the listening but i'm not into the technical stuff. I see recommendations for gaming and for music listening and i see all kinds of stuff about amps etc... i just need someone to point me to a comfortable, very HQ set that will work good for gaming and music that can plug straight into my GTXP headphone jack. If i'm asking for too much let me know hehe.

your best bet is to go to arstechnia and post in there a/v forum that is where i got the most help form.

i like my hd 500 but they are a little bit big on the bass
but i was looking for sub 100 dollar pair of headphones.

i have found most people that are into head phones don't like sony.

the whole amp thing comes into play becuase portable device don't have enough power to drive them.


if you want to use the headpones witha portable cd player ever i would look at the hd 500 or hd 570

my hd 500 are very comfurtable and very lite also

but hat every body told me was go to the store and listen to them but i had a problem in that there are no major stories around me.

heh, i'll check out technica... about the store...they have a store near me...but all their headphones are plugged into a lil portable 80 dollar cd player with no amp or anything and even the >500 dollar models sound like crap on that-) My pc is too fargin big to take in there and set up for a test-)

Your best bet is to go to the biggest music store you can fine and just try out everything they have.
