Goodday to everyone,

I have problems when playing games. Eg Red Alert 2
Symptoms: Picture jerking constantly when moving the mouse around. Eg when the tank moves... it screen jerk for 2 sec than return normal for 5 seconds then it jerk again.. and again. :(

My system: PII 300MHz (celeron)
Video card: S3 4M
Ram: 96MB
Harddisk: 3 Gig
OS: Windows Millenium

Is it because my computer is too slow?
Please advice me on what to do? eg... how to free the memory or anything. I'm willing to try. Thanks in advance.

Probably your system. Your scraping the bottom of the barrel on minimum system requirements. I used a P3 600 with 128 megs ram and there where times when it got a little slow. I think the smallest proc. you can use a 266 and 64 megs of ram. When I look at buying a game I usually look at the recommended requir. as my minimum. I seem to be happier with the results of a game if I meet those requirements.

You might try closing some of the icons you see on your task bar. They eat ram. Might want to snag a copy of MemTurbo. http://www.memturbo.com/ Scrubs and recovers ram. It will usually free up ram even after a fresh reboot.

Might try turning down the resolution (ie. picture quality) on the game. Duh didn't even think to mention that as the first thing to do. Oh well, you probably figured that out already.

Ra2 is fairly cpu intensive. About the only thing that will net you a speed boost is switching to WinNT. You can drop your res. down too, or convert to Win98; the latter won't be all that noticable.

I hacked Msft, and all I got was this lousy source code.....
